What an amazing day with so much #girlpower showing up to learn about their Mississippi State Capitol! I could hardly sleep the night before just thinking about all their little faces lighting up as they would walk onto the second floor Rotunda. Their heads raised to look at the beautiful dome ceiling with too many light bulbs to count - all dressed up in their finest frocks, seemingly just as excited and nervous as I was.
We started our day with a history lesson from Mrs. Kathy Broom. We then toured the House Chamber, the Senate Chamber, and the Hall of Governors. We walked to Downtown Keifer's and Basils for lunch and had the privilege of ending our day eating cookies in the Governor's Mansion with First Lady Elee Reeves and her daughter, Maddie. It was the perfect day!
I cannot thank Amile Wilson enough for capturing the day in photos. As they say, a picture is worth a thousand words ... they certainly tell the story better than I can in writing.
I tried to divide them into sections to make it easier to keep in order. I hope you enjoy.
